Donal Trump holding a program at the Scotland golf course |
The Trump has
unveiled his controversial fairway.
The world’s biggest property mogul is yet again under the
spotlight. But this time, Donald Trump’s newest project has some controversy in
the bag.
On July 10th, The
Donald drove the first ball in his Scottish fairway. In a news article from The Guardian UK,
Trump claims that this project is the “greatest golf course in the world”.
However, environmentalists and property neighbors think otherwise.
Former Ryder Cup captain, Colin Montgomerie was instrumental
in the acquisition of the land despite disapproval of the Scottish Wildlife
Trust. The property with a stunning view of the Northern Sea has been selected
as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of the gradual
northward movement of the sand dunes in the area.
The Golf Environment Organization complained of the
“considerable negative impact on what was one of UK’s most valuable mobile sand
dune systems”. This organization is known for vetting courses and is heavily
supported by the European Tour.
Despite best efforts to keep things on a positive light, the
Trumps were labeled “ridiculous monsters” that are out to “destroy Scotland”.
Donal Trump can’t hide under golf cart covers in this one. Several neighbors of
the property are still complaining about the environmental destruction, buy
outs and various forms of harassment from Trump’s camp.
