How Many Seats Should My Golf Cart Have?

Before, the use of golf cart is limited to one purpose and one purpose only: To stroll around the fairways with a fellow golfer, restricting to only 2 passengers allowed on each vehicle. Other than that, these buggies are promptly being stored in their own respective parking lots, cloaked in their heavy-duty golf cart covers until the next tee off comes.

Fast forward to today, golf carts are now being credited as an all-around vehicle, built for myriad of uses such as for short-distance travel, leisure, and even as a utility car in various work areas and businesses. No wonder non-players, business owners, and even old people are opting to buy one and ride the golf cart bandwagon. Here’s a question: How to decide on buying a golf cart, in terms of seat capacity?

To answer, having the knowledge of what will be the intended purpose is important, especially for determining the seat capacity that you’ll be requiring in a golf cart. Here are a few points to look at:

Institute a Sense of Urgency

As said earlier, knowing the purpose for buying the golf cart is essential for determining the seat capacity you’ll be needing, so institute a sense of urgency, (e.g. “I need to get a 4-seater cart to accommodate my dogs for a quick ride to the park.”)

If you are going to use this for driving around town and attend to some quick errands or for the usual hunting trip with your buddy, then the 2-seater buggy will do the job. Some 2-seater golf carts usually have a small compartment at the back (initially to cradle golf club) can be exploited for transporting grocery items, tools, equipment and small bags, as well as for transporting machineries in the work area.

Be Practical. Know your Driving Pals

Who will be riding with you? That’s one of the basic questions you’ll need to answer in considering your buggy’s seating and even weight capacity. Remember, efficiency goes hand-in-hand with practicality. If you normally stroll around the block all by yourself, then it’s not advisable to get a 6-seater cart.

For transport services just like in most retirement homes and airports, a good 3-seater to 4-seater golf cart would suffice the need, while 6-seaters would be most appropriate for small VIP tours of large facilities such as country clubs.

Where To Go?

Knowing the proximity of common destinations or frequently-visited places will help you in deciding the number of seats your golf cart should have. Most 2-seaters have lower horsepower. Hence, performance would be limited as compared to larger carts. If you plan to use your golf cart off-trail, then it only suggests that you should go for the larger, 4 to 6-seater golf cart.

Cleaning Your Golf Cart’s Mat is Easy

Because it is open, a golf cart is prone to the elements. You see there’s a reason why the golf cart cover exists. We can never overstress the importance of a golf cart cover in protecting your cart when not in use.

When you take your golf cart out on the course, it can easily pick up dust; which is why rubber matting is very important. Aside from making the floor more comfortable to step on, the mat keeps that very floor from gathering dust and stains. But it, too, needs to be cleaned regularly to avoid permanent, unwanted marks.

Cleaning the mat is easy. For this you will need:

-          push broom or wet-dry vacuum cleaner
-          hose with spray nozzle
-          sponge
-          dishwashing soap
-          moleskin towel (if you have to use the cart right away)

Step 1
Don’t start cleaning the mat inside the golf cart. You will need to take it out. This shouldn’t be a problem as the mat isn’t attached to the floor. To get rid of loose dust, shake it and then lay it on a flat surface. Use push broom or vacuum cleaner to clean it even further.

Step 2

Get the hose with the spray nozzle and turn it on. Spray on the mat to remove harder buildups of dirt. Squeeze a teaspoon of dishwashing soap into the sponge and use it to clean the mat. Be sure you utilize the soft side of the sponge. Now do it again, this time using the rough side. Rinse it afterwards.

Step 3
Turn the mat over and do the entire thing again.

Step 4
Hang up the mat and allow it to dry. If you have to use it right away, wipe both sides with the moleskin towel. The moleskin towel is good in absorbing water, so it allows less to dry when you hang it up. Once it dries, put it back on your golf cart. If you won’t use it right away, get your golf cart cover so it is still protected.

Get Your Golf Cart a Vroom-ing

Golf carts make it easier for golfers to get around the course. Problem is that stock speed can be too slow that at times some golfers find it unbearable.

Cart manufacturers have an answer to this ‘dilemma’ as they have available increased speed gear kits which they sell separately. They include a high-speed motor, and you need to consult the manufacturer on this one as there are things that may need to be considered following the speed increase. But these modifiers can be quite expensive. Good thing there are other ways to up the speed of your golf cart, and you can do it yourself. You don’t need extreme modifications on this one. All you need is follow these tips:

Get rid of excess weight
Today, golf carts are used even outside the course. Parks, malls, villas and other locations and businesses use golf carts to get around. Especially if you are not using it at the course, you may want to remove your golfing equipment like clubs and other gears. You’d be surprised at how this simple tip can actually make a difference.

Change gearing/size of tire

You can adjust the gearing in the differential to achieve faster speeds. Also, switching to larger tires can do the trick. A good change from 18” to 22” tires can add speeds of more than 2mph. While it will be covered by the same rpm, your golf cart will be able to cover more distance because of the larger tires.

Adjust the governor

The speed of the golf cart is dependent on a device called governor, or quite aptly, speed limiter. Because the golf course is no racetrack, cart manufacturers install governors to keep the speed at low levels. The stock speed of golf carts is only around 12mph, and adjusting the governor will naturally give your cart a considerable increase in speed.Much like protecting your cart with a golf cart cover, doing these things to your cart needs utmost care. If done wrong, they can do more harm than good, especially with the governor. In future articles, we will show you how to properly and safely adjust the governor.

“The environmentalist love what I have done”: Donald Trump Opens £100m Golf Course in Aberdeenshire

The Trump has unveiled his controversial fairway.

The world’s biggest property mogul is yet again under the spotlight. But this time, Donald Trump’s newest project has some controversy in the bag.

On July 10th, The Donald drove the first ball in his Scottish fairway. In a news article from The Guardian UK, Trump claims that this project is the “greatest golf course in the world”. However, environmentalists and property neighbors think otherwise.

Former Ryder Cup captain, Colin Montgomerie was instrumental in the acquisition of the land despite disapproval of the Scottish Wildlife Trust. The property with a stunning view of the Northern Sea has been selected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of the gradual northward movement of the sand dunes in the area.

Here are some advantages of getting a pet car seat and a seat cover for your most valued car and your wife’s best friend:

   1.     Makes your dog comfortable while you’re on the road.

Google’s Self-Driving Golf Carts: Do You Want One for Yourself?

Self-driving cars aren’t exactly a good thing on the road. For one, it can cause life-threatening accidents not only to the driver but to the passengers and other people on the road as well. However, Google, with its ever-pioneering nature, started using self-driving golf carts within their property nearly two years, when they posted on their blog that several of their cars have already crossed the 140,000-mile mark.

The World Health Organization reports that automobile accidents take around 1.2 million lives all the time and Google aims to cut this figure by half – with self-driving golf carts. Last year, Google co-founder Sergey Brin reported that their golf carts have now been driven for over 1,000 miles without the need for driver intervention.
